Your Opportunity

Gertsburg Licata is seeking an experienced Estate Planning, Probate & Tax Attorney with a client-focused mindset and a passion for helping individuals, families, business owners, and fiduciaries navigate sophisticated estate planning and estate administration matters.

The ideal candidate enjoys building long-term client relationships, thinking strategically, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary legal team. While litigation experience is preferred, particularly in probate or trust disputes, it is not required. We are primarily looking for an attorney with strong experience in estate planning, probate administration, and tax-related matters who is eager to continue growing their practice.

Your Role and Contribution

As a valued member of our legal team, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the estate planning and estate administration process. You will counsel individuals, families, business owners, trustees, executors, and beneficiaries on a wide range of matters while collaborating closely with attorneys across multiple practice areas.

Your expertise will help clients preserve wealth, minimize tax consequences, administer estates efficiently, and resolve complex legal issues with confidence and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related planning instruments.
  • Advise clients on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning strategies.
  • Counsel business owners regarding succession planning, wealth transfer, and asset protection.
  • Manage probate and trust administration matters from initial filing through final distribution.
  • Advise fiduciaries, executors, trustees, and beneficiaries regarding their legal responsibilities and obligations.
  • Conduct legal research and provide practical guidance on estate planning, probate, and tax issues.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to develop comprehensive client solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional communication and trusted legal counsel.
  • Participate in business development and community engagement initiatives that support the firm's continued growth.
  • Represent clients in probate, trust, or related litigation matters when applicable (preferred but not required).

Requirements

  • Active Ohio Bar License in good standing.
  • 5+ years of experience practicing estate planning, probate, and tax law.
  • Strong knowledge of estate planning strategies, probate administration, fiduciary representation, and tax implications.
  • Experience drafting sophisticated estate planning documents.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters while providing exceptional client service.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to contribute to the firm's continued growth.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Probate, trust, or related litigation experience is preferred but is not required.
  • An LL.M. in Taxation or advanced tax planning experience is a plus but not required.
