Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager Job Description

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs that promote a safe and compliant workplace. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to drive a strong safety culture, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The EHS Manager will oversee safety initiatives, environmental compliance programs, employee training, incident investigations, workers' compensation management, and continuous improvement efforts throughout a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead site-wide safety programs and initiatives to drive a positive safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety audits and inspections to identify and eliminate workplace hazards.
  • Manage employee injury and illness reporting, case management, and workers' compensation programs.
  • Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Develop and maintain Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for manufacturing and operational processes.
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and implement solutions to reduce workplace injuries.
  • Maintain environmental compliance programs and supporting documentation.
  • Conduct weekly hazardous waste inspections and ensure proper waste handling practices.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as the primary contact during environmental and regulatory inspections.
  • Support stormwater, waste management, and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Coordinate workplace exposure monitoring programs, including air quality and noise assessments.
  • Review and interpret industrial hygiene data and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct field audits of personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and effectiveness.
  • Ensure emergency response equipment inspections are completed and documented.
  • Deliver new hire safety orientation and onboarding programs.
  • Coordinate required safety training programs, including Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Powered Industrial Trucks, Personal Protective Equipment, Cranes and Hoists, and Environmental Compliance Programs.
  • Assist in resolving employee concerns related to workplace health and safety.
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams on new equipment installations, process changes, facility renovations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage EHS records and retention practices.
  • Support departmental budgeting and plant performance objectives.
  • Prepare safety metrics, reports, and trend analyses for leadership review.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational goals.
Essential Skills
  • Strong understanding of environmental and safety regulations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to drive accountability, conduct training, lead investigations, and promote continuous improvement.
  • Experience with workplace exposure monitoring, hazard identification, corrective actions, and injury prevention programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state regulatory requirements.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead training programs and influence a culture of safety.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Associate degree with significant relevant EHS experience will also be considered.
  • 3+ years of Environmental Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, onsite role requiring a significant presence on the manufacturing floor in addition to office-based responsibilities. The work environment includes varying conditions, with exposure to heat and humidity. The position involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, and moving throughout a manufacturing facility.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $115000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
